DENVER – The University of Denver gymnastics team will host its annual Crimson & Gold Intrasquad on Sunday, December 18, at 1:45 p.m. in Magness Arena.
Admission is free for all fans, and no tickets or reservations are required.
The event features the team competing on all four events in front of judges as preparation for the 2023 season, which begins on January 8 when DU hosts Penn State and Texas Woman's.
In addition to the competition, fans will have the opportunity to hear from and get to know some of this year's team members, and the entire team will sign autographs at the end of the event.
Denver is ranked No. 13 in the WCGA preseason coaches' poll, which was released on December 9. Last season, DU also finished ranked No. 13 in the country following a trip to the NCAA Regional Final as part of the program's 23
rd-consecutive appearance at NCAA Regionals.
DU welcomes back 11 student-athletes from the 2022 roster including two graduate students who received an additional year of eligibility: 2019 NCAA National Floor co-Champion
Lynnzee Brown (medical redshirt) and 2019 WCGA All-American
Alexandria Ruiz (COVID-19 year).
Also returning for the 2023 season are 2022 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year and Big 12 All-Around Champion, junior
Jessica Hutchinson; 2022 Big 12 co-Bars Champion, junior
Rylie Mundell; 2022 Big 12 co-Beam Champion, sophomore
Momoko Iwai; and 2022 NCAA National Championships qualifier, junior
Abbie Thompson.
Joining them are four freshmen:
Mila Brusch,
Cecilia Cooley,
Ava Mabanta and
Kiley Rorich.
