DENVER – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team announced today its 2023 regular-season schedule, with the Pioneers opening their 17-game slate on Friday, Feb. 10 at Louisville.
Denver is set to play six teams that finished the 2022 campaign in the top 25, including traveling to College Park to play No. 3 Maryland on March 5 and a neutral-site matchup against national runner-up Boston College on March 19 in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Pioneers open their seven-game home schedule on Wednesday, March 1 as No. 14 Michigan visits Peter Barton Stadium. It will mark the fourth all-time matchup against the Wolverines and the second in as many years, as DU rallied from a five-goal deficit to defeat UM 9-8 in Ann Arbor last season.
Denver will also host home games against Niagara on March 9 and Delaware on March 13 before heading to Florida for its spring break trip. After facing BC for first time since the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, DU takes on Jacksonville, which finished 15th in the country last season.
The Pios begin Big East Conference play on April 1 at home versus Villanova and will also host on Butler on April 5 and Georgetown on April 22 for senior day at Peter Barton stadium. The team will play road conference outings at Connecticut on April 8, Xavier on April 16 and at Marquette on April 29 to close the regular season.
DU opens the 2023 campaign with a four-game road swing, as the Pioneers will travel to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt on Feb. 12 following its season opener at Louisville. Denver then takes on in-state foe Colorado in Boulder on Feb. 18 before squaring off at Ohio State on Feb. 25.
Denver will play under the lights at Peter Barton Stadium on Friday, April 14 as the squad hosts the Stanford Cardinal at 7 p.m. DU won 8-6 in last year's matchup with Stanford in Northern California.
The Pioneers have won the last two Big East Championships and go for the three-peat on May 5-7 in Connecticut. The UConn Huskies are hosting this year's conference tournament.
The first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament are scheduled to be held at campus sites, and the 2023 NCAA Final Four is set for May 26-28 in Cary, North Carolina.
Denver finished 11th in the country in 2022 after posting an 18-3 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference play, helping the team win its third consecutive Big East regular-season title.
