Pioneers Head to Steamboat for 2022 RMISA Championships

DU skiing begins the postseason with the regional and conference championships
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Denver ski team begins four days of competition on Wednesday as the Pioneers compete at the 2022 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships at Howelsen Hill Ski Area and Steamboat Resort.
This year's conference championships also triples as the Spencer James Nelson Memorial Colorado Invitational and the NCAA Western Regional. The University of Colorado is hosting this year's meet and will be providing a live online stream of all four days of the RMISA Championships on its YouTube and Facebook pages.

DU is coming off its own Denver Invitational this past Friday and Monday, finishing just 66 points behind first place in the alpine-only meet. The Nordic squads will be competing in their first collegiate races since being in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the Nanook Invitational on Feb. 1-2 and RMISA Invitational on Feb. 5-6. The last day of the RMISA Invite was cancelled due to cold temperatures at race time in Fairbanks.
There will be four days of alpine competition in Steamboat, with the first two serving as part of the RMISA Championships. The events begin on Wednesday with the men's and women's giant slalom at Mount Werner of Steamboat Resort before the slalom at Howelsen Hill on Thursday. The alpiners will then compete in a slalom RMISA Qualifier event at Howelsen Hill on Friday before competing in a parallel giant slalom exhibition back at Mount Werner on Saturday.
The Nordic squads begin their championships on Friday with the women's 5K and men's 10K classical interval start. The regional championships end on Saturday with the women's 15K and men's 20K freestyle mass start.
Spectators will be allowed at the bottom of the alpine race courses and at Howelsen Hill for the Nordic events.
