No. 9 Denver Set for Weekend Trip to San Diego

SAN DIEGO – The No. 9-ranked University of Denver women's lacrosse squad will travel to Southern California this weekend for a two-game stint against Drexel and San Diego State. The weekend series will be the last for the Pioneers in non-conference play before BIG EAST play begins on April 2.

The Pioneers last played on Tuesday, Mar. 15 against Fairfield, winning 15-10.

Drexel and San Diego State will meet later Wednesday.

Last Time Out
A career-high 10-point effort from graduate student Bea Behrins saw Denver take a 15-10 win on March 15. Behrins put seven goals on the scoresheet on her way to becoming the eighth Pioneer in program history to surpass 200 total career points. Also adding to the scoring were senior Kayla DeRose and sophomore Sloane Kipp who each had two goals. Freshman Lauren Black assisted twice and scored a goal of her own. The Pioneer defense continued its dominance, forcing 16 turnovers with the help of Bryn McCaughey, Anna Palmisano, and Sammie Morton who each caused three apiece.

DI Series History vs. Drexel
Friday's matchup between the Pioneers and the Dragons will be just the second time the two teams have played each other in each program's history. Their first meeting took place on Mar. 30, 2012, in Denver, with the Pios winning 12-10. Denver's Jenn Etzel scored four goals in the matchup.
