SAN DIEGO, California – The University of Denver women's tennis doubles team of junior
Andrea Burguete Beltran and graduate student
Britt Pursell played their second match at the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships on Thursday.
Beltran/Pursell faced off against Vanderbilt's Celia-Belle Mohr and Anessa Lee in a consolation match on Day 2 of the tournament, falling 6-3 6-1. The first set stayed on serve until Mohr/Lee broke and took a 4-2 lead. The teams traded breaks in the second and third games of the second set before Mohr/Lee took another break lead for 3-1 before winning the final three games to win the match.
Thursday marked the second consecutive match that Beltran/Pursell played against ranked opponents. They began the tournament by facing No. 26-ranked Christina Hand/Justine Leong in the round of 32 in the main draw while Vanderbilt's Mohr is No. 59 in the doubles rankings (though with a different partner).
