Nosack 200 IM Championship Record Highlights Night Two

Riley Babson, Zyad Morsy and Eli Lubell added NCAA Standards on Thursday evening

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs got an impressive night up and down its roster, taking the lead in both the men's and women's team events on Thursday night at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

Denver's swimmers kicked off the evening session by taking the top four spots in the women's 500 free.
Daniela Alfaro backed up her top-time in the prelims with the best time in the final, taking the race in 4:51.69. Angie Lindsay jumped two of her teammates in the A-Final, finishing second in 4:53.57. Nika Spehar took third in 4:53.74 and Sofia Nosack finished fourth in 4:56.57.
 
Denver's men took the top five spots in the first men's distance race of the championship. Riley Babson edged out his teammate with an NCAA-B Standard time of 4:21.85. Kieran Watson was right behind in 4:22.00. Joseph Hancock rounded out the podium places in 4:24.51. Dylan Wright clocked in at 4:25.44 to finish fourth and Dylan Mes rounded out the top-five spots with a 4:25.80. Connor Hughes finished eighth in the A-Final in 4:31.87.
 
The Pioneers took the top two spots in the women's 200 IM, as the Denver duo finished in the same order they did this morning. Jessica Maeda led the way in 2:00.59. Mina Ada Solaker finished second in 2:02.79 and Mia Moulden clocked in at 2:05.60 to finish sixth. 
 
Marco Nosack set a new Summit League Championship Record in the men's 200 IM, breaking former Pio Patrick Groters time in 2020 with a 1:46.19. Dan Kunin finished seventh in the A-Final with a 1:50.47.
 
Erika Remington took second in the women's 50 free with a time of 22.75. Ines Marin took eighth in the sprint race in 23.38.
 
Denver grabbed spots four and five in the men's 50 free final. Donat Fabian and Frank Tirone finished with times of 20.06 and 20.17, respectively.  
 
Zyad Morsy and Eli Lubell landed on the podium in the men's 1-meter dive on Thursday night. Morsy scored a 321.05 and Lubell tallied 303.70 to take second and third, respectively. Jon Brouillette took fifth in the event with a 288.45.
 
Denver's women finished second in the only relay of the night, the 200 free. Remington, Marin, Natalie Arky and Megan Lucyshyn finished in 1:31.80. The Denver men took third as the quartet of Fabian, Tirone, Brandon Chapman and Alex Lynch finished in 1:20.71.
