DENVER – University of Denver senior
Britt Pursell was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Tennis Peak Performer of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Pursell won both of her singles matches and added a doubles win on February 3-4, all coming against Power-5 opponents in Iowa and Kansas State.
The Oceanside, California, native won the clinching point for Denver's victory over KSU on February 4, breaking to win a 30-stroke match point with a lob winner in No. 3 singles. Earlier in the day, she helped DU win the doubles point after a 6-4 victory on Court 1 with teammate, sophomore
Andrea Burguete Beltran.
Pursell added a second win in No. 3 singles on the weekend with another three-set victory against Iowa on February 3. The senior is undefeated in singles so far this season, winning three matches while her fourth went unfinished in DU's first dual in 2023 against Colorado State.
This is the first Summit League weekly award of the season for Pursell and the sixth of her career. Three different Denver student-athletes have combined to win the Women's Tennis Peak Performer of the Week award in each of the last three weeks with Burguete Beltran doing so for Week 2 and
Taylor Melville doing so for Week 3.
DU travels to Utah on Friday, February 10, before returning to Denver for five straight home matches beginning with Brown on February 19.
