FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – University of Denver sophomore diver
Zyad Morsy qualified for the 2023 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, thanks to a fifth-place finish on the platform Wednesday in the final day of competition at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
Morsy is the first diver since Ross Edfort in 2015 to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The top-5 on the platform in the NCAA Zone E Championships automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. Morsy finished the morning prelim session in eighth, but then strung together a series of impressive dives in the final to make up the difference, and earn his spot in the NCAAs by 3.5 points.
