DENVER – University of Denver women's tennis player and fifth-year student
Taylor Melville will play No. 6-seed Chloe Beck from Duke in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship singles draw.
The No. 91-ranked Melville's round of 64 match is set for 9 a.m. ET/7 a.m. MT at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The 2023 Summit League Player of the Year, Melville went 30-5 at No. 1 singles for Denver in 2022-23 including 16-4 in dual match play. She helped lead Denver to its ninth-consecutive regular-season and tournament titles in the Summit League as well as a team berth into the NCAA tournament. Denver faced No. 17 Oklahoma State in the first round but fell, 5-1.
Melville concluded her fall season with a trip to the 2022 ITA National Fall Championships, upsetting then-No. Alexandra Yepifanova from Stanford before falling to No. 1-ranked Fiona Crawley from North Carolina.
This will be Melville's first singles appearance in the NCAA tournament. She is the fifth DU women's player to advance to the NCAA singles draw and the first since
