MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs wrapped up the final day of competition of the 2024 Minnesota Invite on Saturday night inside the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
The Pioneers recorded four more NCAA B Standards in the final session of the weekend and had several Pioneers crack the top-10 or improve their position in the top-10 on Denver's all-time lists.
Event-by-Event Recap:
Saturday night opened with the men's and women's mile.
Paige Reilly finished seventh with a 16:48.66, good for eighth on Denver's all-time top-10 list.
Nika Spehar grabbed the eighth spot at the meet in the mile after her 16:51.05.
On the men's side,
Joseph Hancock turned in Denver's best finish of the meet with a 15:07.52 in the men's mile to take second in the race. The time for Hancock both earned him an NCAA B-Standard, and his time was good for fourth on Denver's all-time list.
Will Melsha took seventh in the mile with a 15:33.25 and
Max O'Neil took eighth in 15:42.06.
Finn Holdredge took ninth and
Kieran Watson finished 10
th to add points for the Pios.
In the B-Final of the women's 200 back on Saturday,
Mina Ada Solaker took 12
th with a 1:58.26, a time good enough for 10
th on Denver's all-time list.
Darian Koler improved on her prelims time to finish 14
th in 2:01.39 and
Haley Chesno took 15
th in 2:01.76.
Dylan Wright earned his second NCAA B-Standard in the men's 200 back, clocking in at 1:43.23 to take fifth in the A-Final.
Quinn Collins won the C-Final in 1:46.44, putting himself ninth in Denver's all-time record book.
Ines Marin represented the Pioneers in the women's 100 free finals on Saturday, taking fourth in the B-Final for 12
th overall in a time of 49.87, good for seventh on Denver's all-time list.
On the men's side in the sprint free of the evening,
Frank Tirone took 12
th as well in a time of 44.36.
Maeda improved on her NCAA B-Standard prelim time by nearly a second in the women's 200 breast finals this evening. She clocked in at 2:11.65 to finish fifth in the event.
Peyton Mullowney grabbed 11
th in the event with a 2:14.04, Denver's sixth-best 200 breast time in program history.
Marco Nosack dropped more than a second off his prelims time to earn an NCAA B Standard in the men's 200 breast, winning the B-Final with a 1:56.95.
Nico Morton swam a 1:59.19 to take 13
th overall and crack the top-10 in Denver's record book.
Mia Moulden led a trio of Pios in the women's 200 fly B-Final.
Mia Moulden was scored 13
th in 2:01.34 to lead the trio.
Mary O'Neil was timed at 2:05.50 to take 15
th on Saturday.
Denver's men also had three swimmers in the 200 fly B-Final.
Brandon Chapman took 11
th in 1:47.36 to finish 11
th.
Ian O'Neil reached the wall 15
th in 1:51.13 and
Max O'Neil swam it in 16
th in 1:51.44.
