Nosack’s 200 IM School Record Highlights Night Two

The Pioneers captured four NCAA standards and four new top-10 marks in Pioneer history on Thursday

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs continued the 2024 Summit League Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with four more event wins, four NCAA Standards and a new school record on Thursday night at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
 
Marco Nosack set a new school record in the men's 200 IM to highlight the night with his time of 1:45.81 in the event, breaking his own school mark by 0.38 seconds.

How it Happened
Denver opened the night with a win from Nika Spehar that got her the eighth best time in program history after her 4:49.53 in the women's 500 free. Sabrina Rachjaibun improved her time from the prelims by more than two seconds to take second with a 4:51.57. Daniela Alfaro grabbed fourth in 4:54.28 and Tenaya Winter rounded out the Pios in the A-Final with a fifth-place finish in 4:55.30.
 
Kieran Watson recorded the fourth-best time in program history to lead Denver to a distance swim sweep on Thursday night, reaching the final wall in 4:19.52 to take the event title. Dylan Mes was right behind him in second with a time of 4:24.63. Joseph Hancock took fourth in 4:27.51 and Connor Hughes rounded out the A-Final Pios with a time of 4:31.30 to take seventh in the race and earn Denver 12 more points.
 
A Denver filled A-Final in the women's 200 IM saw five Pioneers finish in the top seven spots. Jessica Maeda continued her winning week with a victory in the race, clocking in at 2:00.61. Mina Ada Solaker took second in 2:01.52 and Sarah Turchanik completed the podium sweep in 2:02.51. Haley Chesno finished sixth with a 2:03.46 and Mia Moulden clocked in at 2:04.00 to take seventh.
 
Marco Nosack led the Denver men in the 200 IM, taking second but breaking his own school record with a 1:45.81. Noah Laird got fourth in 1:48.60 and Quinn Collins won the B-Final in 1:49.50.
 
Erika Remington took second to lead a trio of Pioneers in the women's 50 free final. Remington clocked in at 22.80. Megan Lucyshyn finished sixth in 23.43 and Ali Beay rounded out the A-Final in 23.55.  
 
Donat Fabian led a Denver men's trio in the sprint Thursday night with his personal-best time of 19.64. Frank Tirone finished third in 20.04 and Nikola Tadic clocked in at 20.49 to take eighth.
 
Action shifted to diving for the women's 1-meter. Olivia Gordon got the event championship with a 276.35. Kaelyn Hinesley rounded out the podium with a 258.20 and Kaitlin Calvery took fourth in 245.15. The event title was Gordon's second of her career.
 
Back in the water for the lone relay of the night, Denver's women took second in the 200 free relay with a 1:31.71. Remington, Lucyshyn, Ines Marin and Beay swam the relay for the Pioneers. Denver's men also took second in the 200 free relay as the quartet of Fabian, Tirone, Tadic and Brandon Chapman finished in 1:19.27.
