Denver won its third match in a row with a 2-0 victory over Cal State Northridge on Thursday, August 29, off a second-half brace from redshirt junior
Samantha Dreiling. After finishing with a scoreless first half for the third time this season, S. Dreiling put the Pioneers on the board in the 60
th minute with what would be the first game winner of her career. She added a second goal in the 85
th minute, which was Denver's latest goal so far in 2024.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Molly Wissman earned her first clean sheet of the year – and Denver's second straight – and the seventh of her career.

- Sophomore Michaela McGowan was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week and earned Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week honors following her six-point performance last week.
- The sophomore scored Denver's opening goal at No. 24 Texas A&M before adding assists on four-consecutive DU goals – two apiece at Texas A&M and at Lamar.
- She is the seventh DU women's soccer player to land on the TDS weekly national team and the first since Natalie Beckman was the TDS National Player of the Week on February 23, 2021.
- M. McGowan ranks among the best DI players in the country through Thursday night's slate of matches:
- She is in a five-way tie for No. 1 in the country in total assists (5) and is tied for No. 3 nationally in assists per game (1.00).
- She remained as the only underclassman (freshmen and sophomores) to own at least four assists.
- S. Dreiling's brace on Thursday against CSUN was DU's first since September 10, 2023, when then-freshman Liv Moritz also scored both Denver goals in a 2-0 win at Oregon.
- Should she play in Sunday's match, graduate student Vanessa Murray will become the 36th Pioneer to appear in at least 80 career matches.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
This will be the 15
th meeting between Denver and Colorado College with the teams entering on even terms at 6-6-2. In their last meeting on August 20, 2023, they finished a 2-2 draw at CC. The last time the Tigers made the trip to Denver was August 23, 2013, in a 2-1 overtime win for DU.
CC is coming off a 4-1 win against UCCS at home on Wednesday, August 28. The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead with goals from four different goal scorers including Kylie Enga, who added two assists including on the game winner.
WHAT'S NEXT:
Denver begins a five-match road trip that will keep the team away from home for nearly the entire month of September. The Pioneers first visit in-state rival Colorado on Thursday, September 5, before traveling to Southern Utah on Sunday, September 8.
