Denver captured its third straight shutout and its fourth consecutive win with its 2-0 victory over Colorado College on September 1. Senior
Ella Frost posted the game winner with Denver's earliest goal of the season (19

Michaela McGowan added a second Denver goal in the 70
th minute. DU secured the clean sheet despite going down to 10 players midway through the second half.

QUICK HITS:
- M. McGowan is in a four-way tie for No. 1 in the country in total assists (6) and is tied for No. 2 nationally in assists per game (1.00).
- The sophomore has been involved in eight of DU's last 10 goals (two goals, six assists).
- Her six assists are already more than a Pioneer had in all of 2023. The last time a DU player had more than six in a season was 2021 (Natalie Beckman with 18 and Sami Feller with 11).
- Redshirt sophomore Emma Thielbahr was named the Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week after helping DU shut out both opponents last week, giving DU consecutive weekly awards from the Summit league for the first time since 2021.
- After its last three wins, Denver moved within just one clean sheet of its 250th shutout as a Division I program.
- DU has not allowed a goal in the last seven halves – or the last 319 minutes – dating back to the 40th minute at Texas A&M on August 21.
- Thursday will be Denver's second in a row against an in-state opponent and its third so far in 2024 against a nationally-ranked team.
SCOUTING THE BUFFALOES:
Colorado leads the head-to-head against DU, 19-8-1, including 3-1 win at Denver last season that saw three penalty kick goals between the teams. CU won, 2-0, the last time the teams met in Boulder (September 17, 2022). The teams have played at least once in each of the last 21 seasons.
CU's last scheduled match was canceled due to inclement weather (at NC State on September 1). Prior to that, the Buffs won their third in a row with a 1-0 win at UNC Greensboro on August 29 with Shyra James' fifth goal of the season. The fifth-year student is tied for No. 18 nationally in total goals.
