Singles matches will be best-of-three sets with a full third set. Doubles matches will be one standard tiebreak set. Back draw and added matches may be played throughout the week. Any back-draw singles matches that reach third sets will play a 10-point tiebreak.
A year ago, Denver was represented in both the singles and doubles championship matches at the ITA Mountain Regional. Then-senior
Andrea Burguete Beltran fell in a tight three setter in the singles title match but still booked her trip to the NCAA National Championships in singles. She became the fourth Denver women's player to win a singles match at NCAAs with a straight-sets upset win in the first round.
Burguete Beltran also advanced to the doubles final with current DU senior Lambert, thought the duo came up just shy of their trip to NCAAs after splitting the first two sets and falling in a 10-point match tiebreak.
Denver has had a singles player in the ITA Mountain Regional Championship title match in three of the last four seasons that the tournament was held.
Next up, the Denver women's tennis team will host its annual Colorado Cup fall tournament at Denver Tennis Park on October 24-26. DU will host players from Colorado, New Mexico, Weber State and Wyoming for singles and doubles play each of the three days. Admission is free.
