DENVER – University of Denver women's tennis players
Claudia Martinez de Velasco and
Louise Wikander were together named the Kwik Star Summit League Doubles Peak Team of the Week, the Summit League announced on Tuesday.
The DU juniors moved to a team-best 8-1 in doubles together in 2025 with a win against Montana State on February 21, helping Denver to a 7-0 sweep for its third overall win of the season. The DU duo won their match, 6-2, to equal their best scoreline of the 2025 dual season thus far and extend their unbeaten streak to five.
The Kwik Star Summit League Doubles Peak Team of the Week is new in 2025. This is the first time Martinez de Velasco/Wikander have won the weekly honor and gives Denver three of the five women's doubles honors so far. They join DU's
Andrea Burguete Beltran/
Marley Lambert, who collected the award in Weeks 2 and 5.
Including their singles honors, both Martinez de Velasco and Wikander have now earned weekly recognition from the Summit League three times in each of their careers.
Denver hits the back half of its six-match homestand, opening Summit League play against Kansas City and Omaha on March 1-2 at Denver Tennis Park.
