DENVER - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team is back on the road this week for a pair of Big East conference games.
The Pioneers are slated to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles on Wednesday in Milwuakee, Wisconsin, before heading to Connecticut for a match up with the Huskies on April 6.
Denver owns a 9-0 all time record against the Marquette. The last time the two programs met, the Pioneers defeated the Golden Eagles, 20-6, on April 6, 2024 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The Pioneers own a 12-0 record over UConn. Denver defeated the Huskies, 16-14 en route to a fourth consecutive conference tournament title on May 4, 2024 in Cincinnati.
2025 CAPTAINS
• The Pioneers selected redshirt senior
Raegan Wilson and seniors
Lauren Black and
Caroline Colimore as captains for the 2025 season.
• Wilson missed the part of the 2024 season due to injury but appeared in 14 games for the Pioneers.
• Black was third on the Pioneers, recording 59 points on 38 goals and 21 assists. The New Westminster, British Columbia native was an All-Big East First team selection a year ago as well as the 2022 Big East Freshman of the Year. She also bring international experience to the Pioneers, having played for Team Canada last summer.
• Colimore started in all 20 games for the Pioneers last season and was third on the squad with 30 goals and six assists. The midfielder recorded 10 multi-goal games and a career-high four goals in the Big East title game against Connecticut. The Maryland native was a 2024 All-Big East First team selection.
A BALANCED OFFENSE
• VanThof joined the Pioneers as Associate Head Coach and Offensive and Recruiting Coordinator this offseason.
• The Pioneers have seven different attackers with 10 or more goals this season. •
Lauren Black leads the offense with 42 points on 33 goals and 9 assists, alongside
Raegan Wilson with 18 goals and 21 assists and
Olivia Ripple adding 26 goals and 8 assists.
• DU has tallied seven or more goal scorers on eight occasions this season.
"HOT PINK" DEFENSE
• Denver ranks 32nd in scoring defense, allowing an average ot 10.09 goals per game, good for third in the Big East.
• DU leads the conference and is 15th nationally with 10.73 caused turnovers per game.
• Denver has forced 7+ caused turnovers in all but three games over the last four seasons.
• Senior
Sarah Pokorny leads the Big East and is 23rd in the nation, averaging 2.00 caused turnovers per game.
• The Pios return starting goalkeeper
Emelia Bohi who's 10.97 goals against average is good for 41st in the country.
DORR LEADS THE DRAW
• Redshirt freshman leads the Pioneers in the draw circle with 71 draw wins so far this season, good for ninth-most by a Pioneer in a single season.
• The Florida native averages 6.45 wins per game, good for third in the Big East and 30th nationally.
• The Pioneers have a 0.571 draw win percentage with 14.64 wins per game.
• Alongside Dorr,
Caroline Colimore has recorded 31 draw wins,
Raegan Wilson has 19 and
Maddie Montgomery tacked on 11.
