No. 18 Denver Gymnastics Hosts Home Finale Against No. 25 ASU

DU closes Big 12 Conference competition on Sunday in Magness Arena

MEET THEMES:
DU will celebrate Senior Sunday and honor its two true seniors Mia Hebinck and Momoko Iwai in a post-meet ceremony on Sunday.
As part of Fan Appreciation Day, Denver will hold its annual Carnival on the Concourse with games, activities, bounce houses and more. The Carnival on the Concourse is free to all ticket holders, and fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the experience before the start of the meet.
The University of Denver athletics department will also be holding its 50th Anniversary of Women's Athletics Celebration in conjunction with the DU women's lacrosse game on Sunday morning. Current and former student-athletes, supporters, fans and community members are invited to attend a panel discussion from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Gottesfeld Room and are asked to RSVP online.
LAST TIME OUT:
Denver landed its second highest road score and third highest overall score of the season with a 196.750 to finish atop the final team standings at Iowa State and with NC State on February 28. DU gymnasts won at least a share of all five individual titles, led by sophomore Madison Ulrich in the all-around and on beam and floor. Graduate students Bella Mabanta and Rylie Mundell added wins on vault and bars, respectively.
EYE ON THE RANKINGS:
DU moved up to No. 18 in the national rankings after boosting its NQS by more than four tenths. The team's gain of .430 in NQS is the largest gain in a single week by any team in the top 40 this season and is the sixth largest single-week improvement by a Denver team in the last 25 years.
Denver also improved its standings on all four events and sits in the top 25 on each of them for the first time in the same week in 2025. DU's bars squad leads the way at No. 8, and Denver sits just outside the top 10 on vault, coming in at No. 11. On beam and floor, DU is ranked No. 18 and No. 24, respectively.
Sophomore Madison Ulrich also moved up in the all-around standings, gaining two spots to sit at No. 21 this week.
QUICK HITS:
Arizona State finished second in its penultimate Big 12 Conference meet at BYU on February 28, scoring a 196.000. Emily White won the all-around title and added second-place finishes on vault, beam and floor – an event on which she is tied for No. 24 nationally. Caroline Lichtman joined her in second on vault while Sarah Clark was also tied for second on beam. Jada Mangahas tied for second on bars.
DU and ASU have met 25 times previously with Denver holding a 12-13 record, though DU has won the last 10 meetings. The teams met three times in 2024 including at both the NCAA Regional Second Round and NCAA Regional Final. DU finished ahead of ASU in both of those competitions (197.275-197.150 and 197.450-196.750, respectively). Arizona State also made the trip to Denver in the 2024 regular season on January 14 where DU won, 196.900-196.375.

- During their four-year careers at DU, they have helped Denver achieve its first-ever 198+ scores and been members of lineups that have set program scoring records.
- With her win on bars at Iowa State, Mundell took sole possession of No. 4 in the Denver record books for most career bars titles won. She also moved within three of Denver's top 10 for career titles won overall.
- Before Sunday's meet, Denver has already set a program record for total attendance, welcoming 23,589 fans through its first five home meets.
