Box Score STORRS, Conn. – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team fell to the UConn Huskies, 13-14 in overtime in Storrs on Sunday afternoon.
Denver jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with a pair of goals by
Lauren Black another by
Olivia Ripple. The Huskies were able to tie it up with three straight goals of their own before Black earned a first-quarter hat trick to give the Pioneers a 5-3 advantage after the first frame.
The Pioneers outscored the Huskies 3-1 in the second quarter, taking an 8-4 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Eva Thomsen-Marr opened scoring in the second half off an assist from Black to extend the lead to five. The Pioneers and
Huskies traded goals for the rest of the quarter, but Denver held on to a 12-9 advantage with one frame left to play.
UConn outscored Denver 4-1 in the final quarter, with the equalizer coming with seven seconds remaining in the fourth to send the game to overtime, tied at 13. UConn's Kelsey Neary scored the game-ending goal with 27 seconds remaining in the overtime period, with Denver falling to UConn 13-14.

Olivia Ripple led the Pioneers with four goals,
Lauren Black tacked on three goals and an assist.
Caroline Keil and
Eva Thomsen-Marr each added two goals of their own.
Sarah Pokorny and
Caroline Colimore led the Pioneers defensively with a pair of caused turnovers apiece.
Emelia Bohi added four ground balls while
Landry Grover picked up three of her own.
Alex Dorr and
Carly Frohnapfel each picked up a trio of wins in the draw circle.
