Denver Women’s Soccer Adds Tom Poole as Assistant Coach

Former Colorado Rapids academy coach joins coaching staff ahead of 2025 season

DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer team has hired Tom Poole as an assistant coach, head coach Julianne Sitch announced on Thursday.

Poole joins the Denver staff after spending more than a decade among some of the top soccer programs in the state of Colorado. Most recently, he served as the head coach for the Colorado Storm USL-W team and as the elite academy director for the Colorado Rapids YSC and USL-W teams.

"I'm really excited to have Tom join our staff at DU," Sitch said. "He's a great person, and his energy, personality and competitive nature are going to be an awesome fit with our group. He already has strong connections in the Colorado soccer community, and his network will be a big boost for our in-state recruiting. On top of that, he brings a sharp soccer mind and great tactical insight that will make an immediate impact with the team. I'm excited to work alongside him, and we're all ready to hit the ground running this season."

Throughout his more than decade-long coaching career, Poole has held roles in both the club and collegiate ranks including two stints as an assistant coach for the Regis University men's team. In addition to his time with the Colorado Storm and Colorado Rapids academy program, he has also worked with US Youth Soccer's west region boys' ODP teams and the North Denver Rush.

"I'm incredibly honored and grateful to join the University of Denver women's soccer program," Poole said. "Contributing to Coach Sitch's vision is something I'm genuinely excited to be a part of. The balance of top-tier academics and competitive Division I soccer makes DU a truly special place. It's a privilege to join a community that's committed to developing both exceptional players and people."

This will be Poole's second role at the University of Denver after also serving as a director of operations for the DU men's team in 2019-20.

Poole was a four-year starter at Wingate University from 2008-11 and helped lead the Bulldogs to two NCAA Division II tournament appearances.

He will join a Denver program that enters the 2025 season in search of its fifth Summit League title and a 13th trip to the NCAA National Championships.

Season tickets for the 2025 season are now on sale, starting at $69, and are available for purchase online, by calling 303-871-4625 or by visiting the Ritchie Center Box Office.
