The Pioneers head to California for first of two road matches in five days
WHO: Denver (2-8-3, 1-3-1 WCC) at San Francisco (3-7-2, 0-4-1 WCC)
WHAT: Denver's 6th West Coast Conference match
WHERE: Negoesco Stadium (San Francisco, Calif.)
WHEN: Saturday, October 24, at 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT
LAST TIME OUT:
Denver earned its third ever draw in 10 meetings with Portland last Saturday afternoon, playing to a 0-0 draw with the Pilots at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Sophomore goalkeeper Lucy Garnsey made two saves in her third cleansheet in nine appearances this season.
SERIES HISTORY:
Denver holds a 2-1-1 edge in the previous four meetings, but the Dons won the only previous meeting at USF. After playing to a 1-1 draw in 2000, Denver won back-to-back meetings in 2011 (3-1 at Cal) and 2014 (1-0 at home). San Francisco won 4-0 on its home ground in 2015.
LIMITING SHOTS
In the Pioneers 0-0 draw with Portland on October 17, Denver held the Pilots to two shots on goal, the third time this season the Pioneers have held an opponent to two shots on goal or less in a match.
PIOS ON THE PITCH
Of the 27 student-athletes on the Denver roster, 24 have seen minutes in 2026 including collegiate debuts for all five freshmen after Maeve Morgan first played on September 17 against Air Force. Three sophomores (Lucy Garnsey, Riley Jeffries and Olivia Kroska) have also played their first NCAA minutes.
Garnsey, Kroska, Shay Payne and sophomore transfer Camila Palacios have each made their first NCAA starts, and senior transfer Jaidin Kinch made her DU debut on September 17.
DU has hit a season high for student-athletes to play in a single match with 21 in three matches so far in 2026, most recently doing so at Santa Clara on October 3.
PIO POINTS
Seven Pioneers have registered their first career collegiate points in 2026 including returners and first-time goal scorers Olivia Kroska and Nora Zelazny. Among returners, Kit Mooney and Kacey Harvey also have their first NCAA points, doing so with assists. Mooney shares the team lead in assists this year with two.
Three freshmen have found their first collegiate points, and each has at least a goal to her name. Caitlin Staats leads the way with a goal and two assists — tied for the most on the team. Maeve Morgan also has a goal and an assist. Reese Morgan owns two ponts off a goal.
Camila Palacios also earned her first point as a Pioneer with an assist at DePaul on August 20.

Denver wraps up its road swing next Wednesday night when the Pioneers travel to LMU. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
