DENVER – University of Denver women's soccer player
Alina Santos has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Women's Team of the Week for August 18-24, TDS announced on Tuesday.
The Denver redshirt junior continued her stellar start to the 2025 season in helping lead a shorthanded DU to a scoreless draw against Power-Four opponent Baylor and a 1-1 tie against Seattle during the Rumble in the Rockies, hosted by the University of Montana.
Santos' eight saves against Baylor on August 21 matched her career high and were instrumental in the Pioneers holding the Bears without a goal, despite playing with only 10 women from the 22
nd minute.
The Waikanae, Kapiti Coast, New Zealand, native backed it up with five more saves against Seattle on August 17 including a couple late to help preserve DU's 1-1 result.
Santos now owns four career clean sheets following her second consecutive shutout in the Baylor match. She is tied for No. 11 nationally in shutouts thus far in 2025.
This is the first TDS award of Santos' career. She is the first Denver women's player to earn a spot on the TDS weekly national team since
Michaela McGowan also did so during Week 2 of the 2024 season. Santos becomes the eighth DU woman to earn TDS weekly recognition and gives Denver 12 combined honors since 2011.
The University of Denver women's soccer team hosts its home opener on Thursday, August 28, when it welcomes Texas A&M to University of Denver Soccer Stadium at 4 p.m. MT.
