The Sport Psychology Team includes a licensed sport psychologist and two advanced doctoral trainees in clinical psychology who are specialized in sport psychology. The trainees are on staff for at least one full academic year. The trainees for 2024-25 are Jack Stimson, MA and Rakyung Park, MA.

Dr. Tommy Fritze (he/him) – Sport & Performance Psychologist   
Tommy is a sport and clinical psychologist and lead sport psychology provider for DU Athletics. He is also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and a former Division I student-athlete. Tommy has significant experience with the full range of student-athlete concerns at all levels including college, professional, and Olympic, and is particularly specialized in working with all types of anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns.

Carmyn Hayes, M.S. (she/her) – Sport Psychology Pre-Doctoral Intern     
Carmyn is a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology and holds a Master’s degree in Psychology. She was part of the University of Wisconsin’s women’s soccer team prior to medically retiring her first year. She has significant experience working with professional and collegiate athletes at the individual and team levels. Carmyn’s area of interests includes identity exploration, interpersonal patterns, injury recovery, emotion regulation, body image concerns, and religion/spirituality in sport.

RJ Parrino, EdM, CMPC (he/him) – Sport Psychology Graduate Student Trainee
RJ is in his 3rd year of a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and holds a Certified Mental Performance Consultant certification through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, as well as a Master’s degree in Counseling and Sport and Performance Psychology. He has significant experience consulting with collegiate and professional athletes, performers, and coaches at both individual and team levels. He utilizes mindfulness, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) approaches. RJ is also a former Infantry Officer in the Marine Corps, and his specialties include working with student-athletes through identity development, leadership challenges, and addressing issues related to injury and trauma.
