Pioneer Women's Tennis Loses Close Match to Montana State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 15) - The University of Denver women's tennis team lost a close match to Montana State, 5-4, at the Cadet Fieldhouse in Colorado Springs. The Pioneers lost two of the matches by default due to injuries to the top seeds on the team - juniors Martina Pospislova (Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic) and Dita Kochloffelova (Prague, Czech Republic).

Freshman Marit Blom (Uden, Netherlands) and senior Anne Donley (Duluth, Minn.) won two matches each for the Pioneers. Blom beat Ali Jensen, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and paired up with senior Hope Pearce (Marietta, Ga.) to win the No. 1 doubles match, 8-2. Donley beat Susan Risteen, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and paired up with freshman Sandra Wolfe (Denver, Colo.) to win No. 2 doubles, 9-7.

The Pioneers return to action on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 8:30 p.m. against Colorado up in Boulder.
