Pioneer Women's Lacrosse Team Falls in Season Opener

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Feb. 21) Susan Pitt scored six goals and Boston College recorded five unanswered goals in a decisive second-half rally as the Eagles outlasted the University of Denver 19-10 in the first game of the season for both teams February 21.

The Pioneers rallied from a 8-3 halftime deficit to narrow the Boston College advantage to 9-6. However, the Eagles reeled off five straight goals to take a 14-6 edge midway through the final half. Both teams traded goals the remainder of the game as the Pioneers were unable to sustain any momentum offensively.

Denver junior Kim Bodick matched Pitt's output with six goals on the afternoon. The Pioneers also got a pair of markers from both junior Sarah James and sophomore Dominique Cook. Sophomore Sara Hazard made six saves in goal for Denver.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, March 5, when they welcome Notre Dame to the Mile High City for an alumni weekend matchup with the Fighting Irish. Game time is set for 1 p.m. MST.
