DENVER -- After jumping out to a 4-0 start this season, the University of Denver men’s tennis team has lost three of its last four, including Sunday’s (Mar. 4) 4-3 set-back to Arkansas-Little Rock.
Denver lost all three doubles matches to the Trojans, losing the doubles point. The Pioneers’ tandem of juniors Magnus Ramfelt (Bromma, Sweden) and Jay Patel (Ahemedabad, India) saw a six-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of UALR’s Mariano Pettigrosso and Mithum Movali, 8-6.
On the singles court, Denver’s Ramfelt, Patel and senior Tomasz Wawrzyniak (Inowroclaw, Poland) earned wins, but it was not enough as the Trojans won three singles matches as well to pull out the overall victory.
Denver (5-4, 0-3 SBC) will try to return to the win column with a match Saturday against Missouri-Kansas City. The Pioneers will play UMKC at 9 a.m. at the Air Force Academy.
