The University of Denver men's tennis team opened the Sun Belt Conference schedule with a 7-0 loss to New Mexico State.
Denver opened the contest at doubles and lost two of the three matches. The lone Pioneer win came on the No. 3 courts, as senior Lachlan Menzies and freshman Jason Tan earned an 8-4 victory over NMSU's Danilo Zzibanobic and Luis Avila. The Pioneers were forced to juggle their lineup as senior Jay Patel did not make the trip, contributing to the loss.
Denver will remain in Las Cruces, N.M., for two more matches this weekend. The Pioneers will face Illinois State tomorrow (Feb. 23), before closing the trip against Arkansas State Sunday.
