Men's Tennis Wins Backdraw of the Anteater Classic

The University of Denver men's tennis team defeated Hawai'i, 4-1, Saturday (Mar. 30) to take fifth place in the 23rd Annual UC-Irvine Anteater Classic. In an attempt to speed up the match, the team's started at singles and stopped play as soon as the match was decided.

At No. 1 singles, senior Magnus Ramfelt earned his team-best 18th win of the year with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Hawai'i's Reginaldo Moralejo. Sophomore Urban Ljubic won his second-straight match and improved to 11-7 on the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win over UH's Justin Menolascino at No. 2 singles. On the fourth court, Denver sophomore Hans Peter Gaber defeated Francisco Brignole, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. It was Gaber's third-consecutive win as he went undefeated in the Anteater Classic. Denver's fourth and match-winning point came at No. 6 singles as freshman Jason Tan improved to 7-7 with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Hawai'i's Lincoln Leeder.

Denver (7-11) will return to the Rocky Mountain State to take on in-state rival Colorado on Thursday (Apr. 4). CU will host the Pioneers in Boulder, in a 10 a.m. match.
