Pioneer Men Lose to New Mexico State

MOBILE, Ala. - No. 6 seed New Mexico State took a 4-0 win over injury-plagued Denver in Saturday consolation action of the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championships.

The Aggies (11-11) will face UNO in Sunday's 8 a.m. fifth-place match, while the Pioneers (13-11) will meet Western Kentucky in the seventh-place match at 2 p.m. today.

NMSU won the doubles point when All-Sun Belt standout Danilo Zivanovic and partner Luis Avila took an 8-4 win at the No. 2 slot. The Aggies won the No. 3 doubles by default.

After getting another default point at No. 6, the Aggies closed the match out with straight-set wins at No. 4 (Christian Halligan) and No. 5 (Stjepan Beg).

NMSU tallied its second win over Denver this year.
