Box Score

DENVER - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team used four points (3g, 1a) from senior midfielder Patience Baldwin (Baltimore, Md.) and junior defenseman Crystal Jack (Kingwood, Texas) to defeat No. 7 (Division III) Colorado College on Senior Night at Pioneer Field. Denver improves to 6-9, while CC falls to 12-2.

Neither team could find a way to score during the game's first seven minutes. The Tigers bit first when Helen Sneath nailed a free-position shot with 22:36 remaining. The Pioneers would score three of the next four goals as sophomore midfielder Steph Greenlees (Lake Forest, Ill.), Baldwin and Jack put Denver up 3-2 at the 16:21 mark.

CC responded with four-consecutive goals of its own, three by Cassie Abel. Baldwin would stop the Tigers run at the 6:34 mark. Abel scored her fourth goal of the day with 2:05 left in the first half, giving CC a 7-4 lead at the break.

Unlike the Pioneers last two contests, Denver dominated the second half. The Pioneers scored the half's first four goals in just 5:38. Greenlees, senior midfielder Alexis Shipman (Englewood, Colo.), Jack and freshman defenseman Alyssia Passavia (Stony Brook, N.Y.) all found the back of the cage for Denver.

Abel's fifth and final goal of the game did not slow the Pioneers as Denver scored five more goals during the next 5:29. Goals from Passavia, Jack, Baldiwn and freshmen Kate Broderick (Chantilly, Va.) and Jessica Rae Lodders (Castle Rock, Colo.) gave Denver a commanding 13-8 lead with 15:23 remaining in the game.

The Tigers performed cosmetic surgery on the final score by scoring the game's final three goals, but it was not enough as Denver won, 13-11.

Junior goalie Steph Schneider (Leesburg, Va.) made 13 saves in the win, while Colorado College's Alana Dalton made five. The Pioneers outshot the Tigers, 34-29.

Denver's four seniors all played well in their last regular-season game at Pioneer Field. Baldwin had four points (3g, 1a), five ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Shipman tallied one goal and two ground balls. Cora Sexton (Arvada, Colo.) registered two ground balls and two draw controls. Wendy LaHaye (Lebanon, N.H.) also recorded two ground balls.

The Pioneers play their final two games of the regular season this weekend when they travel to Evanston, Ill., to battle Ohio and Northeastern on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both games begin at noon MT.
