DENVER - The University of Denver blanked Air Force, 7-0, in women's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. The Pioneers swept all nine singles and doubles matches for their 13th consecutive win and fifth consecutive shutout. Denver has now shut out 11 opponents this season.
"I'm really proud of how hard we fought today," head coach Dana Young said. "We came out, fought and competed hard, and I am pleased with our effort today."
Yanick Dullens (Susteren, Netherlands), Suzana Maksovic (Helsingborg, Sweden), Jenny Trettin (Berlin, Germany), Barbara Kourim (Dallas, Texas), Rachel Sackmaster (Alpharetta, Ga.), Beth Messaros (Gahanna, Ohio) all won their respective singles matches. The Pioneers only lost 22 games in 12 sets and six of those games came in one set.
The Pioneers breezed to the doubles point with victories at No. 1 (Dullens and Maksovic), No. 2 (Trettin and Kourim) and No. 3 (Sackmaster and Marisa Mechem).
Denver (16-1) will host Colorado State on April 14. Match time at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion is scheduled for 2 p.m.
