Box Score

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Junior Steph Greenlees (Lake Forest, Ill.), freshman Megan Tyrie (Littleton, Colo.) and senior Crystal Jack (Kingwood, Texas) all tallied hat tricks to help lift the University of Denver women's lacrosse team to a 17-8 victory over the fifth-ranked Colorado College Tigers on Saturday, April 30 at Stewart Field. The Pioneers' second consecutive win improves them to 6-11 overall. CC falls to 10-1.

Jack's first goal gave Denver a short-lived 1-0 lead. The previously undefeated Tigers would run off three consecutive goals to move in front 3-1 at the 22:49 mark. The Pioneers would score the game's next five goals, three off free position shots to take control of the game, 6-3 at 14:20. A CC goal closed the gap to 6-4, but that was as close at the Tigers would get. Three more goals from the Pioneers to close the half gave Denver a commanding 9-4 lead.

The Pioneers unofficially ended the game with five consecutive goals to begin the second half. The Tigers scored three goals down the stretch, but Denver was just too much of for CC to handle.

Sophomore Kate Broderick (Chantilly, Va.) and senior Tara Bourdelaise (Grambrills, Md.) each scored twice for the Pioneers. Freshman Victoria Baines (Parker, Colo.), sophomore Liz Dierdorff (Annapolis, Md.) and senior Ryan Crowley (Sudbury, Mass.) all tallied one goal.

Senior goalkeeper Steph Schneider (Leesburg, Va.) and freshman Becky Childs (Phoenix, Md.) combined to post 19 saves in the Pioneer cage.

The Pioneers return to action on Thursday, May 5, when they travel to Moraga, Calif. for the MPSF Championship at 3 p.m. MT. Denver, the No. 3 seed, will face-off against the No. 6 seed Saint Mary's College Gaels. The Pioneers defeated the Gaels, 16-2 earlier this season in Denver.
