No. 46 Pioneers Stampede Through No. 56 Buffaloes, 6-1

DENVER - The University of Denver women's tennis team defeated the University of Colorado this afternoon at the Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. The Pioneers swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point and won five of six singles matches to seal the victory. The Pioneers have now won seven consecutive matches.

"I am so proud of the outcome of the match and how hard the girls fought," said head coach Dana Young. "We played with so much enthusiasm and confidence today. "

The Pioneers won five of six singles matches to seal the victory over the Buffaloes. Yanik Dullens (Susteren, Netherlands) got things started for Denver and defeated Kendra Strandemo, 6-3, 6-3. Suzana Maksovic (Helsingborg, Sweden), Barbra Kourim (Dallas, Texas), Jenny Trettin (Berlin, Germany) and Rachel Sackmaster (Alpharetta, Ga.) followed with wins in their respective singles matches. Marisa Machem (Fredricksburg, Texas) was the lone Pioneer to be defeated, losing to CU's Gleisy Torres Torres, 7-5, 6-4.

On the doubles side, Denver clinched the doubles points with wins from the duos of No. 28 Dullens and Maksovic at No. 1 doubles, Kourim and Trettin at No. 2 doubles and Sackmaster and Mechem at No. 3 doubles.

The Pioneers return to action Wednesday, April 13 at Colorado State at 2 p.m.
