DU Women's Lacrosse Defeated, 19-10

EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior Tanya Fuchs' (Bay Shore, N.Y.) six goals was not enough as the University of Denver women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-10 decision today at No. 2 Northwestern. The Pioneers end the regular season 14-4 while the Wildcats improve to 15-1.

Freshman Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) added two goals and an assist for DU. Kristen Kjellman led the Wildcats with five goals. Lindsey Munday added three goals and two assists and Aly Josephs had three goals.

The Wildcats scored the game's first three goals before freshman Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) scored at the 20 minute mark. Fuchs third goal of the day with 2:11 remaining in the first half cut Northwestern's lead to three (7-4), but the `Cats responded by scoring the final two goal of the half.

Northwestern scored the first two goals after the break to up its lead to 11-4 with just 18 minutes remaining. The Pioneers continued to fight but could not pull any closer than seven.

Sophomore Becky Childs (Phoenix, Md.) saved a season-high 19 shots. Morgan Lathrop had 10 saves for Northwestern.

The Pioneers are the No. 1 seed in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship and will play either Oregon or Saint Mary's on Saturday, May 6 at 3 p.m. MT.
