Women's Lacrosse Concludes Best Season Ever

EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team ended its most successful season in the program's history with a 12-6 setback to No. 16 Stanford in the final of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament Sunday afternoon at Pape' Field. The Pioneers end the season with a program-high 15 wins (15-5). The Cardinal improves to 12-5.

Junior Kristie Leggio scored a game-high four goals, giving her 104 points for season.

Stanford's Megan Burker tallied a game-high six points off four goals and two assists. Sarah Bach also had four goals for the Cardinal.

Leggio's third goal at the 9:52 mark of the first half gave DU a 4-3 advantage, but Stanford closed out the first half with three consecutive goals to take a 6-4 lead to the locker room.

Freshman Karen Morton and Leggio each scored to make it a one-goal game at 7-6 with 10:24 remaining in the game. The Cardinal responded, closing the game with a 5-0 run.

Sophomore goalkeeper Becky Childs recorded eight saves for DU. Laura Shane made seven saves for Stanford.

Defenders Kelly O'Connell and Natasha Davies joined Morton on the MPSF All-Tournament Team
