ATLANTA - The No. 51 Denver Pioneers snapped a two-match losing streak with a convincing 7-0 win over Georgia State in women's tennis action today at Piedmont Tennis Center in Atlanta. The Pioneers won the doubles point and all six singles matches to earn their first win since Feb. 17.
DU won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Rachel Sackmaster (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Ute Schnoy (Altenstadt, Germany) defeated Rachel Malina and Emma Stahl-Johansson 8-1 at No. 1 and Lorinda Boothman (Naples, Fla.) and Annette Aksdal (Oslo, Norway) clinched the point with an 8-5 win over Mateja Podgorsek and Brittany Smith at No. 3.
Aksdal, Schnoy, Julia Bauregger (Kaernten, Austria), Kyla Iwinski (Marietta, Ga.), Marisa Mechem (Fredericksburg, Texas) and Boothman all rolled to singles wins for the Pioneers.
The No. 51 Pioneers (6-4) return to action at Colorado State on Saturday, March 3.
