RENO, Nev. The No. 27 University of Denver women’s tennis team edged No. 65 Nevada 4-3 in action on Friday at Galena High School in Reno.
DU claimed four of six singles matches after dropping the doubles point to net its third consecutive win. DU also improved to 6-2 against ranked opponents with the road victory.
"We played a good road match, especially in singles," DU head coach Amy Jensen said. "Road wins against ranked opponents help prepare us for the postseason and we're pleased with the win."
No. 73 Mallory Voelker (Dousman, Wis.) defeated No. 59 Maria Mizyuk 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to highlight the win. Also claiming singles wins for the Pioneers were Julia Bauregger (Klagenfurt, Austria), Kyla Iwinski (Marietta, Ga.) and Bhavani Tirumurti (Jakarta, Indonesia).
DU (18-2) returns to action on Saturday, April 12 at No. 41 Boise State
