DENVER - The No. 27 Pioneers women’s tennis team swept every match en route to a 7-0 sweep of Colorado State this afternoon at the Stapleton Tennis Pavilion.
With the win, Denver improves to 16-2 on the season. Colorado State falls to 6-6.
In doubles, No. 35 Mallory Voelker (Dousman, Wis.) and Julia Bauregger (Klugenfurt, Austria) defeated Laura Neal and Hilary Tyler 8-4 at No. 1. Kyla Iwinski (Marietta, Ga.) and Ute Schnoy (Altenstadt, Germany) downed Anette Pohjalainen and Lauren Strasburger 8-2 at No. 2. Annette Aksdal (Oslo, Norway) and Bhavani Tirumurti (Jakarta, Indonesia) beat Sarah Seltsam and Kirsten Stople 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles, Schnoy finished first with her 6-3, 6-0 win over Neal and Bauregger followed with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat of Strasburger. Aksdal clinched the win for the Pioneers by downing Caitlin Fluegge 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 and No. 73 Voelker beat Tyler 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1. Iwinski edged Pohjalainen in 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Tirumurti defeated Satherlie 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 to finalize Denver’s 7-0 win.

The Pioneers continue their home stand against Northern Colorado this Friday, April 4. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Stapleton Tennis Pavilion.
