DENVER - No. 34 Denver extended its winning streak to six matches with a 7-0 win over in-state rival Colorado this afternoon at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. DU improved to 7-3 with the convincing win, while No. 47 CU falls to 4-5.
DU captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Mallory Voelker (Dousman, Wis.) and Julia Bauregger (Klagenfurt, Austria) won 8-6 at No. 1, while Annette Aksdal (Oslo, Norway) and Bhavani Tirumurti (Jakarta, Indonesia) won 8-5 at No. 3.
Voelker and Schnoy improved to 10 in singles with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Aksdal, Bauregger, Kyla Iwinski (Marietta, Ga.) and Tirumurti also posted singles wins.
"Today was one of our toughest matches of the season, but we put out a complete team effort and dominated on all courts," Voelker said. "This shows what a strong team we really are. DU is on a mission now! Vamos Pios!
