DENVER The No. 69 University of Denver tennis team was edged 4-3 by Sun Belt Conference rival No. 61 Middle Tennessee on Friday night at the Colorado Athletic Club Inverness.
"Tonight was a tough conference battle,” DU head coach Danny Westerman said. “We competed very well, and I am very happy with the growth of this team. It came down to a couple of points. Hopefully we get the chance to play them again at the Sun Belt Shootout next weekend. I know our guys would love another shot at them.”
The teams split the singles matches, but the Blue Raiders won the doubles point. Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria), Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Ravjot Dhatt (Victoria, British Columbia) won the singles at No. 4-6, while Weihs and Landwerlen teamed up to win the No. 3 doubles.
DU next heads to the Sun Belt Shootout in Murfreesboro, Tenn., from April 3-5.
