No. 49 Denver Opens Season with Win Over CSU

DENVER - No. 49 Denver opened its dual season with a 5-2 win over in-state rival Colorado State late Friday at CAC-Monaco.

DU captured the doubles point and won four of six singles matches to gain the win.

Ute Schnoy (Altenstadt, Germany), Julia Bauregger (Klagenfurt, Austria), Sophia Bergner and Lorinda Boothman (Naples, Fla.) won their respective singles matches. Bauregger won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles over CSU's Tori Arneson to highlight the action.

Bauregger and Bergner defeated Laura Neal and Caitlin Fluegge, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles, while Anna-Betty Kadar and Schnoy ousted Arneson and Melissa Holzinger, 8-4, at No. 2. Boothman and Emma Isberg won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

DU (1-0) hosts Vanderbilt on Sunday, Jan. 24.
