Women's Tennis Edges Wyoming, 4-3

DENVER - Freshman Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) clinched Denver's fifth win of the season with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles as the Pioneers defeated regional rival Wyoming, 4-3, late Friday at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver.

Isberg broke a 3-3 tie with a 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 win over Kim van Ginkel in the last match of the night.

"Emma Isberg played a great match at the end, winning 7-5 in the third," DU head coach Jeremy Wurtzman said. "She showed a lot of character for a freshman, especially in the last match out there."

DU claimed the doubles point and Ute Schnoy (Altenstadt, Germany) and Julia Bauregger (Klagenfurt, Austria) staked the Pioneers to a quick 3-0 lead before Wyoming's rally was thwarted by Isberg.

DU (5-12) hosts in-state rival Northern Colorado tonight at Pinehurst. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
