Women's Tennis Gains First Win

USAFA, Colo. - Denver beat in-state rival Air Force, 5-2, in women's tennis action this afternoon at the Air Force Academy. The Pioneers evened their record at 1-1, while the Falcons fell to 0-2.

DU won the doubles point and claimed four of six singles matches to get the win. Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) and Elena Najera (San Diego, Calif.) beat Anastasia Hueffner and Christen Monreal 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and Natalie Dunn (Fort Collins, Colo.) and Caroline Schnell (Greenwood Village, Colo.) beat Megumi Voight 8-4 at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point.

"It was good to get our first win this week because our team fought so hard in our two matches this week," DU head coach Jeremy Wurtzman said.

Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany), Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria), Isberg and Dunn claimed singles wins for the Pioneers, who return to action at Colorado State on Saturday, Jan. 29.
