Kansas Downs DU, 5-2, in Women's Tennis Action

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Kansas defeated the University of Denver, 5-2, in women's tennis action Sunday afternoon at Jayhawk Tennis Center. Kansas improves to 3-4, while Denver falls to 3-7.

The Pioneers played without injured Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) for the second consecutive match and were forced to default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Elena Najera (San Diego, Calif.) defeated Monica Pezzotti 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Caroline Schnell (Greenwood Village, Colo.) beat Erin Wilbert 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.

Schnell paired with Natalie Dunn (Fort Collins, Colo.) to beat Wilbert and Pezzotti 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.

DU hosts Colorado on Friday, March 4. First serve at Pinehurst Country Club is set for 5 p.m.
