Pioneers Fall 16-6 to No. 7 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - University of Denver women's lacrosse junior Lauren Ciccomascolo (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and redshirt sophomore Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) both scored two goals, but the Pioneers fell 16-6 to No. 7 Stanford on Friday evening.

The Pioneers fell to 3-10 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Cardinal improved to 12-1 overall and extended their MPSF lead to 4-0.

Stanford jumped to a quick two-goal lead just three minutes in before Secora cut the deficit to one with 24:09 remaining in the first, but the Cardinal  rolled to a 6-1 lead at halftime and outscored the Pioneers 10-5 in the second half.

The Cardinal out-shot Denver 38-23 in the game and won 17-of-25 draw controls. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Harman (Boyertown, Pa.)  made a season-high 16 saves in the game.

Denver remains in the West with a matchup against UC Davis on Sunday at 1 p.m. MT.
