LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Denver Men’s Tennis Team defeated New Mexico State 5-2 on Sunday in Las Cruces, N.M. The win is the Pioneers third straight and puts them at 6-11 overall and 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
The Pioneers took the early 1-0 lead after defeating New Mexico State in two of three doubles matches.
In singles, No. 67 Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) defeated New Mexico State’s Luis Ramirez 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in No. 1 singles play. Redshirt senior Max Krammer (Perchtoldsdorf, Austria) returned to the No. 3 singles spot and defeated Marc Westgate, 6-3, 6-2. Senior Fabio Biasion (Velbert, Germany) powered past Paul Denele 7-6, 7-5 in the No. 5 singles spot. And freshman Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) claimed a 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 win over Germain Degardin to seal the Pioneers victory, 5-2.
The Pioneers next match is Friday, April 12 against UT-Arlington. The match begins at 12 p.m. (MT) at Gate Tennis Center.
