Denver Women's Tennis Upset by BYU 6-1

PROVO, UTAH- The No. 50 University of Denver women’s tennis team fell to BYU 6-1 on Saturday in Provo, Utah.

Denver is 2-4 overall following the loss, while BYU improves to 2-3.

The Pioneers battled through three sets, but ultimately lost the doubles point to the Cougars.

Posting a singles win for Denver was Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium) who played in the No. 5 spot. The sophomore defeated Toby Miclat 6-2, 6-4. Maureen Slattery (Newport News, Va.) and Kathryn Hughes (Wrexham, Wales) both took their singles matches to three sets, but fell in the final sets.

University of Denver women’s tennis is back in action on Friday, February 21 when it heads to Boulder, Colo. to face the University of Colorado at 2 p.m., MT.
