LINCOLN, NEB. - The No. 51 University of Denver women's tennis team (5-4, 1-0 Summit League) stumbled against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-0) Friday at the Lincoln Racquet Club. The Huskers controlled the match from the outset and would eventually win, 6-1.

The Huskers would snap the Pioneers' streak of six straight doubles points. Maggy Lehmicke and Lisa Andersson would earn an, 8-5 win over sophomore Morgan Barnhill and senior Michelle Garpenlov on court two. Denver would win on court three with sophomore Sonja Radosevic and junior Evy Van Genechten defeating the duo of Matysova and Maddox, 8-5. Nebraska would clinch the point on court one in a close contest, 8-6.

"Nebraska is very tough at home," said Head Coach Christian Thompson. "We started out well in the doubles and just didn't close out matches."

Nebraska would win four straight singles matches to make the score, 5-0. Freshman Julia O'Loughlin would earn her sixth straight singles match, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7-5) to score the lone point for the Pioneers.

"Tomorrow against Wichita State we need to be much more aggressive as a whole and finish off points on our racket," said Thompson.

Denver will finish their road trip with a rematch from the ITA Kickoff Event when they face No. 29 Wichita State Saturday, February 28, atnoon MT.
