DENVER - The 31st-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team defeated Western Illinois University 7-0 today in their second consecutive match against a Summit League opponent. The Lady Pioneers went a perfect 2-0 in doubles action and 5-0 in singles play to improve their overall record to 15-2. DU is now 2-0 in Summit League play as well.

"This weekend across the board, I thought we took care of business," head coach Christian Thompson said after the match. "South Dakota State played very well yesterday against us but in general, we talked about a strategy at the beginning of the week and it was something today that we really focused on. I didn't think we did it as well as we should have yesterday, so we're working on playing the way that we want to play and playing to win and we did that better today."

Julia O'Loughlin (Highland Beach, Fla.), Bianca Mok (Boise, Idaho), Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium), Charlotte Derbyshire (Stockton, England), and Gracia Mboko (Burlington, Ontario.) Morgan Barnhill's (Austin, Texas) was deemed a walk over, therefore giving DU an automatic singles victory.

The pair of Mok/Barnhill and the duo of O'Loughlin/Mboko each won their doubles matches, with both matches finishing with 6-1 scores.

The Lady Pioneers will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Indianapolis to take on IUPUI on Sunday, April 3rd at 10:00 a.m. MT.

"Now we're looking forward to heading to Indianapolis next week to play IUPUI, who will again be another strong opponent for us," Thompson added. "But we're going to get back on the practice courts this week and work on some things to further improve as a team."
