April 13, 2016 DENVER - The University of Denver women's tennis team came in at No. 39 (out of over 300+ Division I programs) in yesterday's Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings Division I Women's National Team Rankings.
With the non-conference portion of the season complete, Denver is currently at an impressive 17-2 record going into competition this weekend. With only two losses (to the defending National Champion Vanderbilt Commodores and the University of New Mexico), Denver has taken down five Top-75 opponents (San Jose State, Santa Clara, Kansas State, Utah and Kansas), all of which were on the road. Additional victories include wins over Memphis, Penn State, Drake, and regional rivals Boise State, Colorado, BYU, Utah State, and Wyoming.
The Lady Pioneers defeated the University of Nebraska-Omaha 7-0 last weekend on Senior Day to remain undefeated in Summit League play. Seniors Charlotte Derbyshire (Stockton, England) and Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium) teamed up to clinch the doubles point for the Pioneers before each winning their individual singles matches.
Next up, DU will travel to Tulsa, Okla. this weekend to take on Oral Roberts University on Saturday, April 16 at 10:00 a.m. MT.
