Denver Falls to Washington in Close Match, 5-2

The University of Denver women’s tennis team fell (2-2, 0-0), 5-2, to No. 24 Washington on Sunday in Seattle, Wash.

Denver shined in doubles play with the duo of Julia O’Loughlin/Bianca Mok and Hada Chang/Anna Riedmiller earning decisive 6-2 and 6-1 wins, respectively.

Bianca Mok posted the Pioneers’ lone victory on the singles court, defeating Washington’s Miki Kobayashi 6-2, 6-1. While Denver was limited in its singles match victories, O’Loughlin had an opportunity to win her game against No. 6 Stacy Fung 6-0, 7-6 (5) and Camille Verden-Anderson played a close match with Katarina Kopcalic, falling 7-6(6), 6-4.

Denver returns to action with its first home match on Feb. 9 against Utah State.
